HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 Drives
The HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 takes 2.5-inch SFF and 3.5-inch LFF drives, and SFF and LFF cages can be mixed in one system. HPE's SFF drives are SFF SC; its LFF hard drives are LFF LP and its LFF SSDs LFF LPC. The 4 LFF NHP chassis takes non-hot-plug LFF RW SATA hard drives. The SFF chassis takes up to 8 NVMe SSDs in the 8 SFF NVMe Express Bay. The controller decides SAS or SATA: the embedded S100i runs SATA only, and a Smart Array controller runs SAS and SATA.

Which drives fit the ML350 Gen10
The chassis and cage kits set the bay size, the controller decides SAS or SATA, and NVMe needs the Express Bay. HPE's maximum counts:

SFF or LFF? How to tell
- Count the drive bays. SFF chassis have 8 SFF bays as standard, upgradable to 24. LFF chassis have 4 LFF bays, hot-plug or non-hot-plug, upgradable to 12.
- Match the server's product number to the product numbers shown here. 877625-B21 is the 4 LFF CTO model; 877626-B21 and 877627-B21 are the 8 SFF CTO models. Pre-configured model names say 4LFF or 8SFF.
- Check the storage controller. Models with the embedded S100i run SATA only. Models with an E208i-a or P408i-a Smart Array controller run SAS and SATA.

Three rules before you order
Match the carrier to the bay
SFF bays take SFF SC drives, and NVMe drives (SFF SCN) go only in the 8 SFF NVMe Express Bay in Box 2. Hot-plug LFF bays take LFF LP hard drives and LFF LPC SSDs. The 4 LFF NHP chassis takes LFF RW SATA drives.
The controller sets the interface
The embedded S100i runs SATA drives only, in UEFI mode only, and is off by default. Smart Array controllers run SAS and SATA. NVMe drives are not supported by Smart Array controllers; they need the NVMe Express Bay kit (874569-B21).
Add the Redundant Fan Cage Kit
HPE requires the Redundant Fan Cage Kit (874572-B21) for 10K, 15K or higher RPM SAS drives, for NVMe drives and for M.2 drives. It is also required when all three drive boxes hold the maximum number of drives.

What drives fit the HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10?
SFF SC drives in SAS or SATA, LFF LP hard drives and LFF LPC SSDs in the hot-plug LFF bays, and LFF RW SATA drives in the NHP chassis. The SFF chassis also takes up to 8 NVMe SSDs in the NVMe Express Bay. HPE also lists a SATA M.2 SSD and NVMe SSDs as PCIe adapter cards.
Do drives from an ML350 Gen9 or ML350 Gen11 fit the ML350 Gen10?
Some part numbers appear in more than one generation: 881457-B21 (SFF SC) is in the ML350 Gen9 QuickSpecs too, and 881781-B21 (LFF LP) in the ML350 Gen11 QuickSpecs. Check the part number against HPE's list for the ML350 Gen10.
Does the ML350 Gen10 support NVMe drives?
Yes, in the SFF chassis only, with the 8 SFF NVMe Express Bay kit (874569-B21) in Box 2. It holds up to 8 NVMe SSDs with both riser boards, or 4 with one, and needs the Redundant Fan Cage Kit. NVMe drives are not supported by Smart Array controllers.
How many drives does the ML350 Gen10 hold?
Up to 24 SFF or 12 LFF drives in three drive boxes. With the NVMe Express Bay, HPE shows 16 SFF drives plus 8 NVMe SSDs. The two media bays and the slim DVD bay together take the space of one drive cage.
Can I run SATA drives without a RAID controller?
Yes. The embedded S100i software RAID supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 on SATA drives connected to the embedded SATA ports. It operates in UEFI mode only, is off by default and only supports Windows. With the S100i, adding the 2nd and 3rd LFF cage kits needs the LFF Embedded SATA Cable Kit (877578-B21).
What boot and optical options does the ML350 Gen10 have?
HPE lists the NS204i-p NVMe OS boot device, which supports UEFI mode only. One slim-line SATA DVD-ROM or DVD-RW fits with the Slimline ODD Bay Kit (874577-B21), and the Mobile USB DVD-RW covers the case where the front drive cages are fully populated.
