Genuine HPE M-CRPS power supplies for the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen12, new and refurbished. Gen12 moves this server to Modular Common Redundant Power Supplies: hot-plug, tool-less units in two physical widths, with a choice of four AC ratings and two -48VDC ratings, and a rule that the two bays must hold the same type.

Size the power supply on the voltage you will actually plug into. Every M-CRPS kit for the DL325 Gen12 delivers less on 100-120 VAC than its label — the 2400W kit gives 1200W, the 1500W kit 1000W to 1100W, the 1000W kit 800W and the 800W kit 650W — and HPE does not support mixing different types of power supply in one server, so both bays must hold the same kit.

The right-hand columns are the point of this table. On 100 to 120 VAC every kit delivers less than its label, and the 2400W kit delivers exactly half. A server with a 400W or 500W processor, 24 DIMMs, a full E3.S fill and two GPUs sized on the 200-240 VAC figure will be undersized on a low-line circuit, so decide the input voltage before the wattage. HPE points to its Power Advisor tool for the configuration-level number.
Choosing the Right DL325 Gen12 Power Supply
- Never mix types. HPE states that mixing different types of power supplies within a server domain is not supported; a replacement or a second unit must match the one already fitted.
- Buy two for redundancy. The second bay is optional, and a single supply is a single point of failure however large it is.
- Check the width if you use the rear boot device. The NS204i-u beside power supply 2 needs the 60mm-wide M-CRPS and the rear cable kit, so the boot-device location constrains the supply, not the other way round.
- Size for the cooling too. Seven fan kits are required in every configuration and processors of 320W and above take the closed-loop liquid-cooling heat sink and fan, which all draw from the same supplies.
- Count the cords. HPE's pre-configured servers include a power cord and factory-integrated supplies ship with one; when power cords are ordered separately HPE requires the quantity to equal the number of power supplies.

Does the power supply affect where the boot device goes?
Yes. The NS204i-u v2 boot device can mount beside power supply 2, but only with the rear cable kit and a 60mm-wide M-CRPS supply. With a 73.5mm supply the boot device goes on the low-profile Slot 1 riser or in the front cage instead.
