This is a single-socket AMD server, and the one processor decides the rest of the build. The DL325 Gen12 takes one 5th Gen AMD EPYC 9005 processor in an SP5 socket, and that processor serves all 24 DDR5 DIMM slots, all 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes and, through its wattage, the heat sink and fan kit the chassis must carry. One 5th Gen AMD EPYC 9005 series processor in an SP5 socket. HPE lists 23 kits for it, from the 8-core EPYC 9015 at 125W to the 192-core EPYC 9965 at 500W, and the processor provides 128 lanes of PCIe 5.0 with no separate chipset.

How much memory does the DL325 Gen12 support?
6TB, as 24 x 256GB DDR5 RDIMMs across 12 channels at two DIMMs per channel. HPE also states 3TB as 12 x 256GB at one DIMM per channel. LRDIMM and Persistent Memory are not supported.

How many drives does a DL325 Gen12 hold?
It depends on the chassis. The 8SFF server takes eight SFF drives plus an optional 2SFF bay, the 4LFF server four LFF drives, the SFF/EDSFF server up to 10 SFF or 20 E3.S 1T drives with mixing allowed, and the GPU server 8 E3.S or 4 SFF drives alongside its GPUs.

Does the DL325 Gen12 have built-in network ports?
No. HPE lists the network ports as none, with a choice of OCP 3.0 or PCIe stand-up adapters instead. Rear OCP slot A is standard, rear slot B and the two front OCP slots on the SFF/EDSFF server are options.

Is the DL325 Gen12 a two-processor server?
No. It is a single-socket platform - one 5th Gen AMD EPYC 9005 processor in one SP5 socket, one heat sink, and 24 DIMM slots all served by that processor. HPE quotes every memory and PCIe figure for this server per processor because there is only one.

Can I use DL325 Gen11 parts in a DL325 Gen12?
Not the core components. The Gen12 uses the 6096-pin SP5 socket with 5th Gen EPYC 9005 processors, DDR5-6400 HPE Smart Memory kits and M-CRPS power supplies, none of which the Gen11 shares. Check each part number against the Gen12 QuickSpecs option list before assuming anything carries over.
