HPE ProLiant ML30 Gen10 Processors
The HPE ProLiant ML30 Gen10 is a single-socket server, so a processor change here is always a replacement rather than an addition. There is no second socket to fill and no second bank of DIMM slots waiting behind one. What the board takes is the Intel Xeon E-2200 series on the Intel C246 chipset, alongside 9th generation Core i3 and Pentium G parts.

The spread on this platform is narrow by ProLiant standards: two cores to six, and 54W to 83W across the whole documented range. The fastest clock is a four-core part, the E-2274G at 4.0GHz, while the six-core E-2276G gives up 200MHz for two more cores — there is no part that is both. The choice also reaches the memory, since a machine built on a Core i3 or Pentium G holds its DIMMs to 2400 MT/s whatever their rating.
Choosing the Right ML30 Gen10 Processor
- One socket means a swap, not an upgrade path. Nothing is unlocked by a second processor here, and all four DIMM slots are already live with the single processor installed.
- Xeon E is the only route to 2666 MT/s memory. If the server runs 2666 MT/s modules, a Core i3 or Pentium G will under-run them.
- Intel SGX narrows the list to two. Only the E-2276G and E-2274G carry it; every other processor documented for this server does not.
- A GPU constrains the rest of the build. The Quadro P2200 and P1000 need a Xeon E processor, a hot-plug model, the 500W Flex Slot power supply and the Front PCI Fan and Baffle Kit.
- Six cores and 83W is the ceiling. A workload that has outgrown that has outgrown the chassis, not the processor.
