Most likely you have two DIMMs per channel. HPE rates the 2933 MT/s kits at 2933 with one DIMM per channel and 2666 MT/s once both slots in a channel are filled. The installed processor generation also caps the speed.
Can I mix x4 and x8 DIMMs in the DL385 Gen10?
No. HPE states that mixing x4 and x8 memory is not allowed on this platform, and mixing RDIMM with LRDIMM is not supported either. Keep the whole server on one module type and width.
Do I need DIMM blanks in the DL385 Gen10?
Yes in two cases: HPE requires the DDR4 DIMM blank kit with processors above 126W, and whenever the 4LFF mid-plane carrier kit is installed. Blanks keep the airflow path across the DIMM slots intact.
