Confirm you have onboard Ethernet before planning the slots. HPE does not fit the embedded 4 × 1GbE adapter on boards built for 7xx2 processors, and only one FlexibleLOM can be added to the server. Anything faster than 25GbE has to go in a PCIe 3.0 riser slot.

The FlexibleLOM slot is the efficient choice in a 1U chassis because it leaves all three PCIe slots free, but you only get one of them. Anything above 25GbE, and every InfiniBand option except the 547FLR-QSFP, needs a PCIe riser slot.
Choosing the Right DL325 Gen10 Network Adapter
- Check the rear panel before you order: boards built for 7xx2 processors have no embedded 4 × 1GbE, so a FlexibleLOM or PCIe NIC is not optional on those systems.
- Spend the FlexibleLOM slot carefully — only one FLR adapter can be installed, so put your primary fabric there and use PCIe for everything else.
- Order optics and DACs separately: SFP+, SFP28, and QSFP part numbers cover the card alone, while BASE-T adapters run on standard copper patch cables.
- Watch the slot 3 conflicts: the serial port enablement kit takes slot 3's position and cannot be combined with the low-profile riser kit, and a modular Smart Array blocks that riser too.
